Sigora Solar is a Virginia-based solar energy social enterprise whose mission is to provide the world with access to clean, reliable energy at a fair price. To accomplish our mission, we help homeowners and businesses use solar power systems to reduce their energy bills, sustain the quality of their environment, and shape the future of energy production and conservation.
We provide our services both one customer at a time and also through solar cooperatives. These community-based partnerships allow us to reach more customers with renewable energy projects and to make the conversion to solar increasingly affordable and beneficial.
Our social entrepreneurship mission extends beyond local markets and permeates every aspect of our business strategy. This year we opened an office in Haiti, where we are designing and developing a micro-grid system to provide communities with an affordable, efficient, and sustainable power supply.
Sigora Haiti started with the dream of electrifying a clinic. Today, our vision has grown into a full-scale green utility project with an initial 10-year plan of providing electricity to 2 million people by 2025.

Andy Bogdan Bindea
Founder and President
Andy Bindea, one of the most experienced NABCEP certified solar professionals in Virginia, founded Sigora Solar in 2011 with little more than a Honda, a borrowed ladder, and a desire to advance both sustainability and opportunity around the globe. He studied civil engineering and technological physics in Romania, spent 6 years with Greenpeace in Europe and then moved to the U.S. in 2006 with a longstanding goal of bringing solar electricity to those without. Andy has poured his heart into this company with an unambiguous vision; coupled with his ambition and barefaced honesty, he’s a breath of fresh air.
Central Virginia Crew
Jon Kirchner, B.A., M.S.
Director of Design and Engineering
Jon performs Scientific & Engineering duties at Sigora. His primary responsibilities include PV System Configuration Optimization, Photo-Realistic 3D Modeling of Renewable Energy Installations, Resource Forecasting & Energy Estimation.
Jason Paul Robert Welch, QMHP
Project Manager (Solar Ninja)
Jason has settled with his family in the Shenandoah Valley at Redmont Horse Farm, operated by his wife. Working for Sigora allows him to be at the forefront of solar technologies and do something which combats the ecological impact non-renewable energy has on the planet. “My goal in life is to know my children and be a part of their world experience as long as I can.”
Matthew Brady Allen
Around the office, Brady’s positive energy radiates his “rise and grind” attitude. He’s an Eagle Scout who grew up in Winchester, VA, but settled in Harrisonburg after graduating from James Madison University with a degree in Integrated Science and Technology, Environmental Remediation.
Casey’s bending and running conduit, hooking up inverters and installing beautiful solar arrays for Sigora - the most rewarding job he’s ever had. By night, he’s spending time with his family, cruising skyline drive on his motorcycle, or camping in the Shenandoah National Park.
Parker grew up in Harrisonburg but lives in Charlottesville. He is a one man wrecking crew. Sometimes he can be seen on a steep roof, creating seemingly elaborate, but, serene anchors. Please disregard his gruff demeanor he is caramel inside.
Sean graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Business Management and Social Entrepreneurship from Christopher Newport University. Always looking for his next project, Sean brings a bright mind and big picture perspective to everything he does around the office.
Director of Community Programs
Jon grew up in Charlottesville, VA and moved back not long after getting his Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Mary Washington and his Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech. Jon manages community solarize programs and develops strategic partnerships with like-minded community organizations and businesses.
Loraine comes to Sigora with a professional background in clean energy technology development and sustainability. She is highly committed to her clients and stresses the impact they make by going solar. The relationships she forges don't end with the sale; you become part of the Sigora mission and family.
Vinny has great electrical experience that he's excited to build on working alongside Chip, Sigora's master electrician. He wants to learn as much as he can about solar energy and the greater impact it has on us all.
Chip is proud to be part Cherokee, having deep roots here in the Valley, and brings a great deal of energy to the Sigora install team. Years ago he enrolled in Massanutten Technical Center’s apprentice program and went straight into working with a local electrical contractor for 9 years.
Brian was born and raised in Asia where he lived until he was 17. He neither confirms nor denies whether he is actually Asian. After graduating from college in Virginia he joined the Peace Corps who sent him to Eritrea, East Africa.
Hailing originally from Seattle, Brendan has been working in the renewable energy field for the last two years in MA. He spent most of his college career and post graduation living/volunteering abroad in China, Ireland, and India before joining the ranks of the renewable energy industry.
Field Service Manager
Estevan is A.W.W. D1.1 structural welding certified and previously employed as a welder/fabricator. Now he uses those skills as a part of Sigora's ground mount crew, creating solar arrays that are not only functional but beautiful. In his free time, Estevan enjoys the outdoors camping hiking.
Turner is our Solar Marine Biologist! He's gone through a long background of fisheries and aquaculture work, before discovering solar in American Samoa of all places! He's now decided to save the world, starting in the Shenandoah Valley, where he grew up. He loves the opportunity to work outdoors and go home at the end of the day having left a positive impact.
Jeff develops new business for Sigora, whether he’s connecting with contractors, homeowners, or commercial enterprises that are installing solar energy.
John (JT) Ashley
JT works to keep the Sigora office running smoothly. He is a native of Charlottesville and graduated from the University of Virginia. Coming from the world of finance, he is excited to be a part of the Sigora team working to make a cleaner planet.
"Super Dave" has an eclectic resume as a submariner in the U.S. Navy to working in the field of aviation. His varied experiences in electrical work, quality control and logistics brings a variety of technical and practical daily life skills to the table.
Richmond, Virginia Crew
Cameron began with Sigora as an intern while studying Integrated Science and Technology at JMU. After earning his degree, and completing his capstone "Increasing Market Penetration of Residential Solar in VA", we brought him on board to share his solar enthusiasm and help customers move away from fossil fuels, one solar array at a time!
Jon earned a degree in Integrated Science and Technology from James Madison University before joining Sigora. As an Eagle Scout, he often finds himself outdoors during his free time hiking, SCUBA diving, or sailing.
