Jennifer of Crozet, Virginia, recently took the solar plunge and invested in a large 14.85 kWp solar energy system. With 54 panels total, she will be able to offset more than 25 dump truck loads of coal over 25 years.
Jennifer’s solar energy system is a ground-mounted array placed perfectly in a meadow beside her new home. She shared, “The purchase and installation process was seamless and everyone at Sigora was wonderful to work with.”
From our end, we couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity to work with folks like Jennifer, who brought us snacks during the day and whose welcoming attitude made our installation process fun and easy. We truly have some of the most amazing customers!
We used a new method of setting the pylons for this project, which saved time on the installation and turned out quite beautifully.
The pylons were installed using a Gayk pile driver, to make sure each pylon was set correctly. This type of equipment and mounting system increases the efficiency of installing ground-mounted solar systems because it eliminates the need for concrete footers. Jeff and Shawn lead this installation crew, and were very pleased with how smoothly our first use of this technology went.
The other advantage to having a ground-mounted system is that the panels can be optimally angled so they produce most efficiently. If your roof is facing East or West, a ground-mount may give you better production because we can face it due South. Ground-mounts are also a good option if your roof has vents, chimneys, or other restrictions for panel placement.
If you’d like to learn more about how ground-mounts can lower your utility bills, give us a call. We love to talk about solar energy!
